FAQs

How do I book my first in home footcare appointment?

  • Fill out the online form and we will call you to set up an appointment time that works for you. You will then receive a confirmation email with the date and time of your appointment.

What can I expect before my first visit?

  • Before your first visit, there’s paperwork to do! We will email you a Consent to Treatment as well as a Client Intake Form. We know… hurray, paperwork!! However these forms give us your permission to provide footcare and also go through a health history so we can individually tailor our visit to your needs. We will email you one day before your appointment with a reminder to fill out these forms before your visit.

What do I need to prepare for my first in home visit?

  • Have a clean, well lit area with somewhere to sit. Recliners work really well to elevate your feet, however, if you don’t have a recliner, a regular chair will do, as the nurse will bring a footstool with her. In addition to seating, have 2 hand towels ready.

What can I expect on the day of my appointment?

  • PodOrtho nurse will come to your home with all her equipment. She will provide an assessment and all necessary foot, nail and skin care using advanced technique and sterile medical grade tools. Once your nails have been cut and filed and all relevant treatments completed, we use a soothing scrub on your feet and lower legs and wrap them in warm, wet towels to increase circulation and boost morale. Lastly, we’ll dry your feet, apply lotion and finish off with a gentle foot massage.

Why won’t you soak my feet?

  • It is not considered best practice to soak feet prior to providing footcare. Soaking increases chance of injury because it leads to softening of tissue, making it difficult to distinguish calloused skin vs healthy skin. The above mention method using warm, wet towels is meant as an alternative to the soothing feeling that a foot soak provides, however, it is an optional step that you can choose to forgo if you so choose.

What does “Nooshki” mean?

  • Nooshki is the phonetic spelling of the Polish word “nóżki” which means “little feet.” Founder, Marlena is proudly Polish, so this is a cute nod to her heritage.
